Let’s start with a little update on my hair. At the end of January Johanna colored the bottom of my hair a mix of rose gold and magenta. She painted the color on in a random pattern because we weren’t sure how it would take and how long it would last. I got about three weeks our of the first color before it started to fade.
When I went to her the second time it was just a week out from Mardi Gras so we decided to go more vibrant and do the magenta all over my blonde. It really came out this beautiful vibrant and rich shade and it was my favorite Mardi Gras accessory. I didn’t wear a lot of wigs this year because of it.
So what am I doing from here? I am not sure. I have grown to love the color and I am definitely going to keep it for a few more weeks. I have been using Viral Wash on the pink, washing in cold water and only washing once a week to extend the life of the color.

Every weekend I see people I know going to Drag Brunch with their friends. Restaurants like The Country Club to event spaces like the Fillmore NOLA are hosting these fun and festive themed brunches. We even have a restaurant on the Northshore, LOLA, who is hosting their own drag brunch.
The Traveler Broads have a whole section on their website dedicated to it here. P.S. If you aren’t following them on IG you need to start STAT!

Sequins
In New Orleans it’s always sequin season. There is never an occasion that you can’t appropriately add sequins to your look. Drag Brunch is the perfect reason to bring the sparkle and shine.
Sequins can feel more like a winter staple but I found several pieces that will work for spring and summer too.
As we enter the season of spring color is already our best friend. Drag brunch is the perfect time to break out the neon, bright and fluorescent shades.
You don't have to go hard at every drag show (or any drag show, if you're not feeling it). For things like drag brunches or drag storytimes, your reliable graphic or white T-shirt plus some skinny jeans sets the perfect, laid-back vibe.
What to Wear to a Drag Show: Fringe, Fringe, and More Fringe. If you want to feel extravagant, shimmery, and flashy, then fringe is definitely the way to go. Pretty much any item of clothing—jackets, shirts, pants, and any other iteration of those types—can be elevated to a drag show standard by adding fringe.

Don't touch the queens!” Also, leave the performing to the queens. “Sometimes people get too excited and may be feeling their oats a little too hard. Do not get up on the stage and start dancing if you're not invited by the drag queen,” reminds Filter.
A definition like that implies a casual dining setting. It could be dessert or breakfast dishes. It could be casual wine food pairing options. If you want to, you can wear holey jeans and an old shirt to brunch. You can also wear a party dress if you feel like it.
“If you want a better show, $20 will get the best drag brunch you've ever seen in your life.” When calculating how much money to bring to brunch, the Los Angeles-based drag queen Meatball suggests a baseline of $2 per drag queen per performance number.
Don't initiate non-consensual physical contact with anyone, for that matter. That goes for other audience members! Drag performers put hours into their makeup, hair and outfits so please don't grab or touch! If a performer leans in for a hug or a cheek kiss, be mindful, and keep it an air-kiss.
Choose tops with wider shoulders, longer sleeves, and lowered waistlines for longer torsos.Wear high heels. Nothing makes your legs sexier than a pair of high heels, but they're hard to find in big sizes at generic stores. Cross-dressing websites really come in handy here.

Perfect Propriety is everywhere, even in environments some consider Not At All Perfectly Proper — like drag brunch. For the uninitiated, drag brunch is a midday entertainment in a restaurant or bar* featuring a succession of performers dressed in drag — so many sequins before 5:00 PM!
Bold and Beautiful: If you're feeling adventurous, opt for a bold print dress to make a statement. Choose a dress with an eye-catching pattern, like exotic florals or geometric shapes, to spark bottomless conversations and stand out. Pair with simple accessories and shoes to let the dress take centre stage.
More than 400 people were in attendance, and it officially broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ official record for "Most People Attending a Drag Brunch". The brunch benefited the Marsha P. Johnson Institute, which H&M USA has been supporting for several years as one of its LGBTQIA+ partners.
"The decades-old tradition helps expose crowds to the notion that gender is something that everyone expresses differently," says drag historian Joe E. Jeffreys. When Brita Filter performs drag brunch, she has one mission: spread happiness while making everyone feel welcome.
Women ABSOLUTELY CAN be drag queens - and they often make fantastic ones! In fact... there are many talented and successful female drag queens out there who have completely transcended expectations...
A drag show is a piece of entertainment consisting of a variety of songs, monologues or skits featuring either single performers or groups of performers in drag meant to entertain an audience. They range from amateur performances at small bars to elaborately staged theatrical presentations.
The best policy is to just hand the performer your tips with your arm outstretched, or toss the money onstage if they're busy. Don't make them “work for it” by having them pull a bill out of your cleavage or from your mouth (which, BTW, could disrupt their entire routine.)
