Is Everclear alcohol illegal anywhere? Everclear is legal in many states, but not all. States that have banned the 190-proof grain alcohol include California, Hawaii, Florida, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Washington.

It is the most potent grain alcohol commercially available. The most important rule for drinking Everclear is this: never drink it straight or even with a mixer. Everclear is not produced and meant for co*cktails; rather, it's intended to be used to create lower proof alcohols, such as in making liqueurs or limoncello.

Drinking Your First Batch

You should always discard your first batch—metallic residue could seep into your product. Your second batch will taste a lot purer.

The infused flavors are hand-packed with real fruit to impart flavor and color, without making the moonshine overly sweet. The fruit is preserved in the alcohol, making it safe to eat even for years after the jar has been opened, even if Midnight Moon recommends against it.

If you want to lose weight, your best options are spirits. Try drinking your choice of vodka, gin, tequila, rum, or whiskey with a low-calorie mixer like a tonic, soda, or straight. Low-calorie beers are also a great choice as more delicious options come to market.
