Legs on parade: Kristin spotting leaving NBC studios in New York on Tuesday and, right, out and about in the city

While it's not a stretch to imagine some things might have been exaggerated on the so-called reality show, Kristin flatly stated that everything on The Hills was 'pretty fake' and that she was 'pretty much' coached on what to say and do.

Cohen, who was floored, said, 'Wow. That’s amazing.' The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong, who was also a guest, looked equally shocked.

‘Sorry,' Kristin sweetly answered.

Cohen asked the 25-year-old blonde which of the guys on the show she most regretted dating - she was linked to both Justin 'Bobby' Brescia and Brody Jenner during the show - but Kristin replied: 'No one. I would say Justin but I never really dated him.'

'It was fake,' Cohen began.

'Yeah,' Kristin said.

And those make-out sessions - fake as well.

'I think I made out with him once, and that took a lot of convincing,' Kristin described. 'Finally I was like, "All right, I'll just do it!"

'Fake relationships, fake fights, but it was fun, 'cause you're acting. And that was more fun for me.'

Taylor broke in, 'Can we start acting on our show? Do you think I would look like such an ass--- if I were scripted? I would have fought for a line or two. I wouldn’t have ended up in a suitcase.'

But when it came to The Hills co-star Lauren Conrad, Kristin said her dislike for her blonde rival was for real.

Instigators: Kristin revealed that the producers stirred things up between her and Lauren on The Hills and 'made it a lot worse than it was'

Coincidentally, when Lauren guest-starred on Watch What Happens Live she played the Plead the Fifth game too during which she was asked to say three nice things about Kristin.

When Cohen asked Cavallari to do the same, Kristin started off being very polite.

'She is a very pretty girl (and) I know she said the same thing. She's very successful. And we actually have had a lot of really fun nights together, so she can be a lot of fun,' Kristin said.

Hugs and hisses: Kristin, seen here with her co-stars Lauren and Audrina Patridge at The Hills finale party in July 2010, has moved on; she's a mother and a fashion designer and she's engaged

Cohen wanted to know if her 'distaste' for her onscreen nemesis was 'faked for the cameras' too.

'No,' Kristin said loudly, adding that producers took advantage and stirred things up.

'I feel like they put things in our heads. I mean, we were 17 and 18. They made it a lot worse than it was.'

Reflecting on The Hills as a whole, Kristen added: 'I think the story they told wasn't a dishonest one. The way they did it sometimes was.

'They aren't going to be there for everything. Sometimes two characters will get into a fight, and that's important to the story line. The [producers] need that re-enacted.'

Once The Hills' final season ended in 2010, Kristin was glad to move on. She's a fashion designer and doting mother to four-month-old son Camden Jack with her fiance Jay Cutler.
