What does the Phantom do when Christine removes his mask?
he sings a song about choosing Christine to sing the music he writes. Phantom leads her to a mirror. He removes the cover over the mirror and Christine sees an image of herself in a wedding gown. The image is really a large doll, but Christine does not know this.
In the 1962 Hammer Horror version, this Phantom, like the Claude Rains version, had his face scarred by acid, and wore a white cloth mask that hid his entire face, save for one eye. He wears this mask during most of the film, only removing it in a few scenes toward the ending.

The Phantom decided that the happiness of Christine lies with Raoul and not with him. In an act of love, he lets her go. The ending scene shows how even after years, the Phantom still remembers Christine and loves her.
The story concludes with the Phantom setting Christine free after realizing his folly, and she leaves together with Raoul. Despite this fairly happy ending, many fans sought for the Phantom and Christine to ultimately choose one another.
A fed up Christine rightfully calls the Phantom out, stating that he deceived her, killed people, and used her for his own lustful ends. Eventually, she realizes what a broken man he is, and in a moment of compassion, kisses him and says that she will stay with him.
Because here, we confirm not only do the Phantom and Christine see each other again and prove their love for one another, they also consummate that love and have a child together. Plus, Raoul proves to be a rather no bueno husband.

When pressed by the Phantom, Christine confesses that Gustave is his son ("The Phantom Confronts Christine"). The Phantom makes Christine promise to never tell Gustave that Raoul is not his real father. Christine gives her word and vows to sing for him once more, and then leaves him alone.
Is Meg the Phantom daughter?
Meg Giry is one of the fictional characters from Gaston Leroux's 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera. In the story, she is Madame Giry's oldest daughter.
