All industries are reliant on water, but some are significantly more reliant than others. Paint and coating manufacturing is the most water-intensive industry in the United States, requiring 123 gallons per dollar output. In comparison, wineries and distilleries use 34 and 14 gallons per dollar output, respectively. The agriculture, mining, and electric power generation sectors were excluded from this statistic.
