Out of the box they are very stiff. To break them in, consider wearing them around your house for a few days first. I don't recommend wearing these anywhere you're going to be walking a lot (like a European vacation, shopping, running errands, etc.) until you feel that you've fully broken them in.

Contrary to popular belief — Veja Campos do NOT run big. I had a lot of trouble finding my size, especially since I ordered online. Vejas come in full sizes, and I kept reading on multiple sites that they fit large and if you have a half size shoe, to go down the half size.
Another way to check this is to slip a finger between the heel of your foot and the heel of your shoe. There should be just enough space for your finger to fit nice and snugly. If your finger slides in easily with space to spare, you should probably go down a half size, while if it's a tight squeeze, go up half a size.
