“Latin is for conquering the world, while Italian is for conquering the hearts.” Unknown

1. Almost every Italian word end with a vowel

Something called phonotactics, a fancy Greek word meaning “arrangement of sounds”. Phonetics tells you what combinations of sounds a syllable in a language is allowed to have.

In this example: Ti voglio bene (I love you), there is up to half of the 12 letters, in this sentence are vowels.

2. Lengthening of the vowels

Italians often have a habit of extending the last vowel, instead of stopping at the end of words in other languages.

Ex: i tuoi occhi sono come il mare (your eyes are like the sea)

3. There are no throat sounds

Luckily, we don’t have the hard sounds like R in French and J in Spanish, neither nasal sounds in Portuguese and French.

4. The double consonant

Italian double consonants are the necessary graphical representation of those consonants that must be emitted with greater intensity and longer than other consonants.

Ex: anno, bellezza, notte, etc.,…

5. Numerous tonal fluctuations

Speakers often use inflection to express emotion and emphasis in their speech, making Italian known for its musical use of intonation. This language makes it a joy to listen to, even if you don’t understand the words.

6. Italian is a Romance language

It evolved from Latin. As a result, it has many similarities with other Romance languages like Spanish, French, and Portuguese, which are also considered beautiful.

In conclusion, the beauty of Italian lies in its musicality, rich history of artistic and literary expression, smoothness, and its status as a Romance language. Its pronunciation is characterized by sweetness and charm, making it a delight to listen to and learn. Ti voglio bene Italiano!
