What is the difference between ultra rare and secret rare? ›

Ultra Rare: Ultra Rares are identical to Super Rares, but they have gold foil lettering on the card name. Secret Rare: A Secret Rare has a rainbow-colored foil that's applied to the artwork, card name, Attribute, and Level.

On a general scale, the rarer a Pokémon card is, the more valuable it will be. So, secret rare cards are usually more valuable than ultra rare cards, full art cards can be more valuable than holos and so on.

As their name implies, secret rare Pokemon cards are quite rare. Gaming resource TCGPlayer estimates there are only about one secret rares in the wild for every 10 ultra rares. So don't expect to see a lot of them in the wild. Still, it's worth perusing your collection.

Similar to Starlight Rares, the entire card face of a Collector's Rare is covered in a rainbow foiling, and the artwork can feature various embossed patterns. I've written on Collector's Rares in the past , so there's not much I haven't already said about how absolutely stellar these cards look.

A quick way to test if your Pokémon card is real or fake is to take a close look at the edge of it. Real Pokémon cards have a very thin sheet of black between the cardboard. It's very thin, but up close it is easy to see the darkness between the two thin halves of the card. Fake cards do not have this.

Though each of these three types of cards are highly sought after, one must be the most valuable of all. Technically, Full Arts and VMAXs can be Secret Rares, and most VMAXs are either Full Arts or Alt Arts.

Ultra Rare Rarity

Ultra Rare Cosmetic options were generally those that were originally only available via a Code that had to be redeemed through Steam. However, they now include Cosmetic Sets that alter a Character's entire model. With the exception of Perks, this Rarity is found in all Unlockables.

Ultra rare Pokémon cards? They're the real deal. With 200 to 440 unique finds released yearly, collectors can't get enough. Just look for the shiny white or gold stars.

There are, however, three mythical Pokémon who are harder to obtain… Keldeo. These Pokémon are Zarude, Hoopa and Keldeo - all of which can only be obtained by completing special research quests, which themsevles were only available for a limited amount of time.
