Two and a Half Men star's net worth after 'paid hypocrite' barb as he quit show (2024)

Angus T Jones hasn't acted since 2016 – but with a huge net worth, he shouldn't have money worries.

The former child actor became a household name thanks to his role as mischievous Jake Harper in hit sitcom Two and a Half Men. At one point during the show's run, he was even the highest paid child actor in the world.

He officially left the show under a cloud in 2014. Appearing on a Christian radio show, he had previously branded the comedy "filth", urging people to "stop watching the show". He later apologised, but when the time came to leave, he admitted he had been a "paid hypocrite" because the sitcom conflicted with his religious beliefs and values.

Today, on his 30th birthday (October 8), Angus is a somewhat reclusive figure, shunning the limelight. He doesn't have a visible social media presence and on the rare occasion he is snapped out in public, he appears unassuming and unrecognisable from the fresh-faced kid who graced screens. Here, we've explored his net worth.

What is Angus T Jones' net worth?

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Angus has an estimated net worth of $20 million. The vast majority of his wealth was earned working on Two and a Half Men. He was a cast member from 2003 to 2015, appearing in a total of 213 episodes. At his peak, he pocketed $350,000 per episode, equating to between $9 million and $10 million per year, Celebrity Net Worth reported.

The CBS sitcom, which centred on brothers Alan and Charlie Harper, was the most popular show on US TV, watched by an average 15 million people. Jon Cryer played Alan, Jake's divorced, uptight dad, while his womanising, hedonistic, super rich brother was played by Charlie Sheen. Angus's character, Jake, lived with the pair in Charlie's lavish Malibu beach house.

For Angus, the beginning of the end of his relationship with Two and a Half Men came in March 2012. Appearing at the annual annual PaleyFest, he said it felt "very awkward" for his character to have adult storylines involving sex and drugs. He was 18 at the time.

In October that year, he gave an interview to a Seventh-day Adventist-sponsored radio show, opening up about his religious faith. He caused a stir by saying he no longer wanted to appear on Two and a Half Men, branding it "filth" and urging people to "stop watching".

He said: “A lot of people don’t like to think about how deceptive the enemy is. There’s no playing around when it comes to eternity … People will see us and be like, ‘I can be a Christian and be on a show like Two and a Half Men.’ You can’t. You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t.”

The following day, he apologised, insisting he had the "highest regard and respect" for his colleagues. He added: "I apologise if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed. I never intended that."

Angus's initial statement came around a year after his co-star Sheen had a public meltdown during an interview with radio host Alex Jones. Sheen, then the highest paid actor on US TV, was sacked after he called the sitcom's creator, Chuck Lorre, a "turd", claimed to have "tiger blood" and said repeatedly that he was "winning". He later admitted he had a serious drug problem at the time.

He said: "It was difficult for me to be on the show and be part of something that was making light of topics in our world where there are really problems for a lot of people. I was a paid hypocrite because I wasn't OK with it and I was still doing it." He returned for a cameo in season 12 in 2015.
