To meet their objective of cheap and rapid production, fast fashion companies often disregard their environmental impact. Global cotton cultivation, a critical component of the fast fashion supply chain, exerts a tremendous strain on water resources, especially in regions susceptible to drought. Shockingly, there have been reports of severe birth defects among the children of Indian cotton farmers due to exposure to these chemicals.
