Is it good to print photos at Staples? ›

There are many reasons that some of our printing competitors like Kinkos®, Staples®, or Office Max® are so expensive. The main reason, though, is because printing presses, press operators, and prepress operators that can handle larger orders are extremely expensive.

In many cases, the best resolution for printing is 300 PPI. At 300 pixels per inch (which roughly translates to 300 DPI, or dots per inch, on a printing press), an image will appear sharp and crisp. These are considered to be high resolution, or high-res, images.

Get a Specialized Printer

If you want to take photos and get them printed right away, check out printers that connect directly to your phone. Once connected, they can print small or normal-sized photos instantly.

This is where it may be worth investigating into having a store print your items, as many will offer a significant discount on bulk orders. Generally, though, when it comes to smaller numbers of standard-sized printing, an office or home printer is usually the cheaper option.

By using the Staples Print app, you can print PDF documents that are stored in your Staples account, in other apps and in email messages on your iPhone, or on cloud services such as Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive.

How long does Staples take to process? ›

In most cases, orders are shipped the next business day when you order by 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Orders placed after 5:00 pm on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be shipped the following Monday. Special order items may take a little longer for delivery but are generally delivered within 2 to 10 days.

The main difference between glossy and matte is that glossy photo paper is shinier—this makes the color in your image “pop” on the sheet. The glossy finish enhances the color in the photo, creating a more vibrant image.

Staples only price matches with stores that have both online and brick-and-mortar locations. Staples price matches Amazon as an exception to this rule (but not third-party sellers).

The first thing that will impact the price is the quality of a print. Not all prints are created equal, and if a photographer prints for you they will probably have access to professional printers and will be offering you a higher quality of print than you would find on the high street.

The bottom line for glossy vs matte photos is that glossy is better when you won't be framing behind glass and when your photos have lots of contrast or vibrant colors. Matte is better for classic black and white photos that need to last and might be displayed in a gallery.

Snapfish has the lowest price at just 9 cents. Of the photo printing services we tested, the most expensive mail-order service, Mpix at 36 cents for a mailed 4-by-6 print.

The main reason this occurs is because the brightness level on the computer monitor is too high. It's common with newer monitors, many of which are designed for gaming and have their brightness levels set higher by default.

Longevity depends on the care and quality of the surface covering the paper. Since glossy finishes are prone to fingerprints and smudges, they're more likely to have a shorter lifespan. In most cases, matte photos last longer.

With its shiny nature, the finish enhances colors and contrast. Many people choose glossy paper for the professional look it lends to images. You'll get deep blacks and increased sharpness in your photos. The glossy print is a great way of printing photos if you're aiming to show off.

Matte photos do not have a glare that happens with glossy photos. It makes the photos appear flat. Thus making it a great option for photos you want to display in a glass frame or in brighter areas. Because light doesn't bounce off this finish, it can be beneficial in calmer areas like living rooms or offices.

For the highest quality photo prints, we generally recommend 300 DPI. (This is what you'll hear referred to as a "giclée" print sometimes.) However, most images will still look good and avoid pixelation at 150 DPI or above. Simply put: Don't blow up photos to more than double what the max size was at full quality.

Are iPhone photos high enough resolution to print? ›
