Shein is recalling toddler’s clothing items due to the items being a fire hazard and containing traces of lead.
The hazardous items are two sets of children’s pyjamas, which fail to meet the flammability standards and present a risk of burn injury, and a PU leather toddler coat and mini satchel which contain lead.
“The trench coat contains lead (measured value 0.1702 per cent by weight) and the mini bag contains lead (measured value 0.0508 per cent by weight),” Trading standards said.
“Lead is harmful to human health, accumulates in the body, can cause developmental neurotoxicity and may also affect breast-fed or unborn children.

“Shein is recalling the above trench coat and mini bag, which were sold on shein.co.uk from 2020 to 2021.
“Customers should immediately stop using the products subject to this recall and destroy them.
“Customers will receive a refund of the purchase price and shipping fee, if any, and in addition a £10 gift card via email.”
The ecommerce giant is currently estimated at around £11 billion and is one of the fastest growing online businesses in the world.
However, its practices have come under fire, having recently been accused of breaking labour laws and being dubbed the most manipulative fast fashion website.
