Where are VEJA sneakers manufactured? ›

Since VEJA was created, our sneakers have always been made in the same place: Brazil. We produce sneakers both in the Northeast and the Southern of Brazil. Over time, a true partnership grew between the brand and the production plant.

It is a high possibility that you came across them while on the streets, becoming familiar with their distinctive “V” signature.

Fair Trade

This means we deal directly with producers, cutting out middlemen. We pay upfront for harvests, often up to 50%. This means we buy our raw materials a year in advance of making sneakers. At the beginning of the year, we establish the price by signing a two-year contract with producer families.

VEJA is based on a very simple observation: 70% of the cost of a normal big sneaker brand is related to advertising. Eliminating ads, marketing costs, doing away with brand ambassadors, billboards, means investing in reality rather than fiction. It means working back up the production chain and changing it.

Veja offers an eco-friendly alternative without compromising on style or comfort. Known for their ethical practices, Veja's luxury sneakers are perfect for the conscious, fashion-forward individual.

VEJA uses Brazilian and Peruvian organic cotton for the canvas and laces, Amazonian rubber for the soles, and various innovative materials made from recycled plastic bottles or recycled polyester. VEJA sneakers are produced in high-standard factories in Brazil and Portugal.

Biography. Childhood friends Sebastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion founded sustainable shoe brand Veja in 2004, for which Kopp is the creative director and Morillion the sourcing director. The brand manufactures its products in Brazil, made from organic cotton, wild rubber and recycled polyester fabrics.

In Brazil where Veja produces its shoes, a very popular bathroom cleaning product is called VEJA and that is why Veja in Brazil is called VERT which I find is actually a nicer name.
