POINSETTIAS, THE CHRISTMAS MIRACLE FLOWER — Hueter's Greenhouses (2024)

Also known as the Christmas Star and Christmas Flower, the poinsettia is said that their association with Christmas comes from a Mexican legend. The story goes that a child, with no means for a grander gift, gathered humble weeds from the side of the road to place at the church alter on Christmas Eve. As the congregation witnessed a Christmas miracle, the weeds turned into a beautiful cluster of brilliant red, pink and white flowers.

While considered by the ancient Aztecs to be symbols of purity, in today's garden world, red, white or pink poinsettias, symbolize good cheer and success and are said to bring wishes of happiness and celebration. At Hueter’s Greenhouses, we carry a large variety of these Christmas miracle flowers, from 4in containers, to large hanging baskets, there are many colors and sizes to choose from that will fit your personal style.

Monet

A crowd favorite, the Monet, has strong and colorful ombre petals that are a beautiful shade of pink, and each petal has flushes of dark-pink throughout. The long, dark-green leaves make the pink petals pop, and like other poinsettias, the center has beautiful, small yellow flowers.

Glace Poinsettia

The elegant Glace poinsettia features bright white bracts. Much like the Classic Red, it is easy to picture what this plant’s flowers look like. They are a creamy-white color with white centers and beautiful green leaves to complement their look. Placing it next to poinsettias in any shade of red or pink gives your table or mantle that perfect Christmas look.

Orange Spice

This poinsettia is a show stopper! Its bright orange stands out with it’s single colored bracts and is a spicy, bright orange that will attract anyone’s attention. It is a striking plant that looks great alongside its large, dark-green leaves. Easily paired with a classic white or Glace, but we do not recommend pairing it with a red or pink as it competes with its dramatic colors.
