I am going to a funeral and have got a navy blue jumper dress that I want to wear with navy blue heels.
I tried it on with navy tights and it looks weird, especially as the two different navy blues aren't quite the same.
I then tried it on with grey cable knit tights, which was better but still looked a bit odd.
What shall I do? The funeral is on Wednesday and I only have tomorrow to go shopping.
The dress is a fair bit above the knee so was hoping for opaque style tights so that it looks more appropriate for church etc.
Please help!

Black?
AnneGables · 10/10/2016 12:57
How about a dark grey in a plain opaque?
SuperFlyHigh · 10/10/2016 12:59
black

Really? I always thought black and navy were a no no.

No, not necessarily, I often wear navy with black opaque, it's just so hard to fit navy with navy iykwim. Black is fine.

Dark grey, assuming you are going for a sober funeral colour.

Try black and maybe try black shoes too.
Matching shades of navy if difficult but you might get lucky and find tights in a better navy.

Black looks ok with navy here

Thanks, I might go for dark grey and otherwise try black. Not sure I can carry things off like v beckham can though

For a funeral, it really doesn't matter as no-one will be looking at you unless you are inappropriately dressed. For other purposes, I normally go for grey.

Black. The black not going with. Any 'rule' went out years ago. I like them together. Or plain dark grey.
polyhymnia · 10/10/2016 15:38
'Navy', not '.Any'!

Black - high denier
I have a black and navy striped dress which looks rubbish with navy tights but much better with black

I have a navy dress that came with a thin black belt... it was a revelation!

I wear black with navy a lot.
I'd have said mustard/burgundy if it wasn't a funeral.
Liiinoo · 10/10/2016 23:07
Black. Of if that looks too stark for for you M&S do (or used to do - it's a long time since I bought tights) a shade called Nearly Black. Or flesh coloured if you have nice legs.
Also if you have a nice pair of black shoes I would opt for them instead of the navy heels.
NuggetofPurestGreen · 11/10/2016 10:42
Black but I think black shoes then too.
