Next in Fashion will return for a second series, it has been confirmed. The news might come as a surprise to fans, after the fashion contest was previously cancelled on Netflix after just one season.
In the original series, which aired in 2020, viewers watched 18 designers compete to win a $250,000 prize, and for their collection to be stocked on Net-A-Porter. It was hosted by Alexa Chung and Queer Eye's Tan France.
Now, the show will return, but with a supermodel twist, as Gigi Hadid replaces Chung in a hosting role alongside France for the next instalment.

Who will be in it?
Both France and Hadid confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing a sweet picture of the pair together. France wrote: “Who would have thought when we met over FaceTime 4 years ago (thanks @evachen212) that we’d be hosting NEXT IN FASHION TOGETHER!”

Eva Chen, director of fashion partnerships at Instagram, appeared in the first series as a guest judge on the show. Other guest judges included designers Christopher Kane, Tommy Hilfiger, Monique Lhullier and Prabal Gurung, as well as model Adriana Lima and celebrity stylist Elizabeth Stewart. It’s not been confirmed yet who will be guest judging on the next series, but if the last season is anything to go by, there will be some impressive names.

As mentioned, Chung will not return for the second series and is being replaced by Hadid. Chung is known for her successful career as a TV presenter, before launching her eponymous label Alexachung in 2017.

When will it air?
A release date is yet to be confirmed, but we will be keeping our eyes peeled on Netflix, where the season will be streamed. Casting is also now open for designers to apply to take part in the competition and win the prize.

What happened last season?
Seoul-based designer Minju Kim took home the $250,000 prize and launched her collection on Net-A-Porter when the show aired in January 2020, and has since then launched a collaboration with affordable high-street brand & Other Stories.
"Since Next in Fashion, a lot of fans around the world, including those who weren’t that interested in fashion before, sent me messages," Kim said of the collaboration. "I’m thrilled that the co-lab will allow all these Minju Kim lovers to easily access and experience our designs and give us the opportunity to show our clothes to a broader audience. I’ve been waiting a long time for this kind of opportunity and am exhilarated that it’s with & Other Stories."
Kim's aesthetic is both a playful and bold take on haute couture, with her dramatic silhouettes and feminine details.
