If you have followed me on social media for a while, you’ll know how much I love Moroccan interiors. The combination of colour, pattern and texture just ignites a fire in my belly. In this post, I’m going to share the key elements required when introducing Moroccan style in to your own home as well as some sources for original and inspired decor.

Moroccan interiors are known for their vibrant colours, intricate patterns, and ornate details. They ooze a sense of warmth, comfort, and exotic beauty that transports you to another world. I haven’t met a single person that hasn’t been inspired by everything they saw in Morocco, it truly is a feast for the senses.

One of the key elements within Moroccan interiors is the use of bold colours and rich jewel tones. From deep blues and vibrant oranges to earthy hues like terracotta and warm yellows, the colour palette is diverse and captivating. These colours are often paired with metallic accents such as gold, brass, or silver, adding a touch of opulence and luxury to the space.

Another prominent feature in Moroccan interiors is the intricate patterns found in their textiles, tiles, and hand painted furniture. From geometric shapes to elaborate arabesque motifs, these patterns are not only visually stunning, they help to inject warmth and personality in to a space too. Whether it’s on the walls, floors, or even ceilings, Moroccan patterns add a unique charm to any room. Investing in Moroccan rugs is a simple starting point when it comes to getting that bohemian, Moroccan vibe. Check out my favourite handmade and vintage Moroccan rugs here.

Morocco is also known for it’s beautiful handmade pottery. Plates, bowls, cups and vases fill the souk walls and can all be introduced in to our homes with both an aesthetic purpose and a practical one. I have designed my own wall plate collection, inspired by those I saw in Marrakech, you can find them here. You can also shop original Moroccan decor on my website Love Bohemia.

It’s impossible to talk about Moroccan interiors without mentioning the use of traditional Moroccan lanterns. These exquisite lighting fixtures, often made of metal and glass, cast mesmerising shadows and create an enchanting ambiance. Whether hanging from the ceiling or placed on tables and shelves, these lanterns are a true statement piece, adding a magical touch to the space.

Moroccan interiors also embrace the concept of comfort and relaxation. Low seating, such as floor cushions and poufs, are commonly used to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. These seating options are often adorned with colourful and plush textiles, adding an extra layer of comfort. It’s a perfect setting for socialising, enjoying a cup of tea, or simply unwinding after a long day.

Lastly, Moroccan interiors take pride in their attention to detail. Intricately carved woodwork, hand-painted tiles, and ornate plasterwork are just a few examples of the craftsmanship that goes into creating these beautiful spaces. These details are not only visually pleasing but also reflect the cultural heritage and artistic traditions of Morocco.
