Lisa Rinna Says She Prefers To Call Herself 'A Dirty Vegan' (1)

Maybe you love Lisa Rinna's signature hairstyle, or perhaps, you've been a fan since she originated the character of Billie Reed on NBC's Days of Our Lives, or you can't get enough of her shouting "own it!" on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. No matter what your Lisa Rinna vice, she's been on everyone's radar at some point since she first hit the scene in the 90s. And she's a pretty open book, which is good because fans want the deets on Lisa Rinna's diet.

But before that—it's worth noting that Lisa is a fitness fanatic, trying everything from new, quirky classes, like goat yoga, to hitting the yoga studio as a means for staying "balanced and sane," she told People in 2020.

That balanced approach is something Lisa uses when it comes to her diet, too. That means she isn't afraid to indulge in all kinds of food groups including meat, despite living a mostly plant-based diet.

But in the past, Lisa's also admitted that she hasn't had the best relationship with food, and therapy has helped her work through those issues.

Ultimately, whether it's baking with her kids or hitting a yoga class, Lisa says, she is just always on the move: “I’m always doing something. I just do because I feel better,” she told OWN. “If I feel better, I’m nicer. If I’m nicer, my life goes better.”

Makes sense, amirite? Keep reading to learn more about how Lisa switches up her diet and lifestyle to stay healthy—seriously, the woman never stops.

1

She follows a (mostly) plant-based diet.

Lisa's M.O., whether exercise or diet, is balance (more on that below). When it comes to the latter, the RHOBH star says she sticks to a plant-based diet—for the most part.

“I tend to call myself a dirty vegan," she told People. I’m mostly plant-based—but if I do need to eat some meat, I’ll have it.”

2

She believes in moderation.

When it comes to what's on her plate, Lisa says she likes to keep a chill attitude about it. On some days, that means sticking to her plant-based diet, while on others, she goes for the burger.

"I don’t love to use the word diet because if I do, I’ll just want to eat 10 times more,” Lisa said in a People interview. “Moderation is key."

3

She keeps exercise fun.

Lisa likes to keep her workouts joyful by adding new classes to her tried-and-trues.

"My one piece of advice though is finding more than one form of exercise that you love to do and then mixing it up," she wrote on her website. "One day do the Pilates, and then the next day you play tennis. Maybe you can even incorporate a Friday night salsa dancing class with your girlfriends!" And when she says to mix it up, she means mix it up: Lisa has even been known to take a goat yoga class or two.

She stays consistent.

Lisa believes in balance, yes, but she’s also consistent AF.

“For me, staying in shape has always been a part of my life, and it’s all about consistency," Lisa said during an OWN interview. "I've worked out my whole life."

But she's admitted she's had to work on her relationship with food.

Shortly after her daughter Amelia Gray Hamlin opened up about her experience with an eating disorder, Lisa weighed in on her own eating habits, revealing that she's felt like she's had 'food issues' herself.

"Do I have any food issues? I probably do ’cause I’m in this business," Lisa told host, Andy Cohen at the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 9 reunion.

But when asked whether she felt her daughter may have picked up some of her eating habits, Lisa said she doesn't believe she has ever really dealt with an eating disorder.

"I’ve been the same weight ever since I was 20,” she told the host. “But I’m not bulimic. I don’t believe I’m anorexic. I mean, we’ve talked about it. I’ve gone to therapy. I can’t blame myself, but again, I blame myself.”

6

She doesn't pass on dessert.

Lisa's a huge fan of cake, and she never passes up a fun baking sesh with her kids. In fact, it was one of her favorite quarantine hobbies.

"The kids are baking a lot. We’ve had so much baking going on: cinnamon rolls, brownies, lemon cake," Lisa told The Los Angeles Times about what her family did while cooped up at home.

Buttt...she's not a huge fan of cooking.

Luckily, she has a husband who enjoys rolling up his sleeves in the kitchen. Her husband, Harry Hamlin, was in charge of the cooking during the time she spent quarantining due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"[Harry’s] making dinner every night,” she said. “He’s cooking for us, which is a godsend because if he didn’t, I would starve. I’d literally starve. So that’s a good thing."
