Published May 12, 2023 - The iPhone 12 series brings many welcome updates that make it a very worthwhile upgrade from its predecessor. With a powerful processor, improved resolutions, and larger display, it’s a welcome addition to Apple’s iPhone lineup. Here’s what you need to know about the iPhone 12 specs to get you started.
Comparing iPhone 12 Specs
We’ll start with the all important question that most people ask about new phone models: Is the iPhone 12 waterproof? Yes, the iPhone 12 models all hold an IP68 rating and are water-resistant at depths of up to 1.5 meters. This also means those internal components are protected against dust. Ideal if you’re someone who doesn't like to add covers and cases to their device.
The iPhone 12 series outranks the iPhone 11 lineup on just about every count. In addition to being more lightweight and streamlined, the iPhone 12 delivers improved resolutions and pixel density. The battery life of the iPhone 12 is also slightly improved. However, you might struggle to see much of a difference if you’re using 5G.
Thinking about upgrading to the iPhone 13? You’ll have to look hard to find any discernible difference between the two. At a push, the iPhone 13 comes out on top thanks to its A15 Bionic chipset and slightly larger screen, but the price to upgrade doesn’t really seem justified.
If you’re looking to do away with Apple together, there’s always the Galaxy S21 series to consider. The Galaxy S21 has a slightly better display, while an improved battery life means you’ll have to spend less time charging than with an iPhone 12. However, the differences are marginal, so it’s really a case of which brand you feel most loyal to.
