Abstract

In textile and apparel industry computer-aided design (CAD) plays an important role. In the broader sense, CAD represents the computer for designing whereas computerized control of the manufacturing process is done by computer-aided manufacturing (CAD). The revolutionary action of CAD is that the designing of fabric transported into mouse and styles from the use of graph paper and stencil. CAD can be used in the textile, fashion and apparel industry starting from initiation and production to many other functions such as lay planning, spreading, pattern making, cutting and finally up to sewing. The use of CAD by engineering professionals and organizations are for different applications on a large scale basis by CAD software. Special reference to the apparel industry, CAD software has many advantages. With the introduction of CAD, time-consuming and cumbersome processes are made much easier. There are more than 200 pattern blocks in CAD/CAM which help the designers especially to the starting point for creating their own innovations and set up own collections of design. For the aspiring designers, CAD helps to reduce the time factor and also helps to reduce errors to bare minimum. The importance of electronic communication for training in textile and clothing an also with software and hardware involvement is supposed to be the best support for textile and clothing educators.
