No matter how skilled of a baker you are, every now and then you run into a baking disaster that turned a masterpiece dessert into something rather pitiful-looking. When making an upside-down cake for instance, where the cake must be inverted onto a plate before serving, some of the cake sticking to the pan can become a problem, resulting in a cake with chunks missing. The best solution to prevent cake from sticking to the pan is using parchment paper. Parchment paper is a non-stick material that can line baking pans, allowing cakes to easily slide out.
Line the ban you will be using for the upside down cake with parchment paper so that it fully covers the bottom and the sides of the pan.
Pour your prepared batter into the pan as directed according to the recipe.
Bake the cake as directed by the recipe.
Allow the cake to cool slightly, then place a serving plate upside down on top of the cake.
Flip the cake and the serving plate over together so that the serving plate is now on the bottom. The cake should easily slide right out of the pan with the parchment paper. Remove the parchment paper and serve.
Tip
Grease the pan and the parchment paper for extra assurance that the cake will not stick to the parchment paper.
