Over the years,a growing number of luxury fashion houses like Gucci,Saint Laurentand many othershave announced a commitment to adapt to more ethical fashion practices bygoing fur-free, opting for eco-friendly and cruelty-free options.

Prada

The Italian fashion house Prada Group announced in the year 2019that all of its brandswill no longer use animal fur in theirdesigns or products.

“The Prada Group is committed to innovation and social responsibility, and our fur-free policy is an extension of that engagement,” saidMiuccia Pradain an official statement. “Focusing on innovative materials will allow the company to explore new boundaries of creative design, while meeting the demand for ethical products.”

Saint Laurent

French luxury brand Saint Laurent announces it will stop using fur,the move will take effect from the Fall 2022 collections. Theparent company Kering, which also owns Gucci, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Botta Venega, will be completely fur free in all its fashion houses.

Animal rights activist Leanne Mai-ly Hilgartmade her brand, Vaute Couture, 100% vegan, eco-friendly. This brand usesorganic, recycled and high-tech fabrics to create sustainable outerwears which are as comfortable as animal-derived wool, fur.

Hilgart foundthe brand with the aimof eliminating the use of animals in the fashion industry. Shesaid about her brand in aninterview,“I started with outerwear because I found being cold was an excuse to wear animal products.”

Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana to stop using animal fur

Dolce & Gabbana will not use animal fur anymore! On Monday, a renowned fashion brand announced that it would stop the use of animal fur in all its collections starting this year.

The label will switch to eco-friendly faux fur.“Dolce&Gabbana is working toward a more sustainable future that can’t contemplate the use of animal fur,” Dolce&Gabbana communications and marketing officer Fedele Usai said in a statement.
