Can you take a camera on a kayak? ›

We recommend investing a bit of money to protect your camera gear, not just on your kayak tour but for all your outdoor pursuits. The best way to carry your camera while kayaking we have found are Watershed dry bags.

Film a mix of wide shots, which show the surrounding landscape, close-ups of action and mid-shots in between. Climb a hill, put your camera on the beach and get low in the water for interesting perspectives. A tripod will go a long way to making your whitewater kayaking movie look pro.

For a more traditional form factor with all the best features that GoPro has to offer, the flagship HERO12 Black is a true powerhouse for boaters out on the water.

Dry Bag: The next thing you'll want is a dry bag. You've probably seen these — they're made of waterproof fabric, and the opening rolls up and buckles together to keep all water out. This is an excellent place for wallets, jewelry and even your phone when you're done with it.

Because I was in a kayak and constantly getting wet, I always had a waterproof case on my phone (In particular, a Lifeproof Case). First, I started taking “selfies” by propping my phone up against a rod holder or bag placed in front of me at the front of my kayak, setting the camera timer, and snapping the pic.

The River Cam is a great place to canoe or kayak. You can canoe along any section that we look after including the upper River in Grantchester, the Backs and the Lower River out through to Waterbeach.

It's definitely possible to head out kayaking alone and it should be encouraged. However, it's not without its dangers and you should treat the sport with respect and take the correct safety precautions to ensure that you get the most enjoyment out of your solo paddling.

Wear white or bright colored clothing to help improve kayak visibility. Use white or light bladed paddles. While black is the most popular, they cannot be seen well at distances. Install an orange whip safety flag on your kayak.

The newest HERO12 Black is the best entry-level camera for photography and video you can find with so many modern features included and intuitive design. GoPro HERO11 Black Mini is a close runner-up at an even lower price point making it an affordable camera for beginners without compromising on quality.

There is plenty of room on all of our inflatable paddle boards to mount a gopro. Most of our customers like mounting it on the front nose of the iSUP to get a frontal view however it also works great on the back so you can see video of what you're paddling into.

In most situations, anchoring from the bow or stern is the best method. Using a kayak anchor trolley is the easiest way to get your anchor to the correct position.

On a pedal kayak, you might want the mount close to the seat. However, if you are paddling, you might want to mount the display out of the way of the center of the kayak. Placing the mount close to a deck hatch or scupper will make it easier to run wires to the battery and transducer.
