The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company is one of the most traditional chocolate companies in the United States and part of America’s chocolate heritage. During the Gold Rush in the mid-1800s, founder Domingo Ghirardelli shrewdly discovered that the exhausted miners were starving for treats and needed something to spend their gold dust on. Today, the historic chocolate factory at Ghirardelli Square is one of San Francisco’s landmark. The most famous products in the brand portfolio of Ghirardelli are the popular SQUARES which were developed in 1999.
