About the brand

Rich in history the brand Coach dates back to 1941, originally founded under the name Manhattan Leather Bags. In 1962, Coach hired Bonnie Cashin who breathed new energy into the company. Pioneering American sportswear she used industrial hardware and organic materials such as leather, wool, and jersey.

The Cashin motto was to "make things as lightweight as possible, as simple as possible, as punchy as possible, as inexpensive as possible." This meant that her debut collection came in classic, simplistic designs. In 1979, Lew Frankfort joined the company transforming Coach from a little-known leather goods manufacturer to a world-renowned brand. This concept of affordable luxury was a big deal in the industry. The brand grew in popularity due to its superior craftsmanship and classic style.

Today, as in 1941, the brand is still committed to celebrating craft, their New York roots and the optimism of authentic American style. Creative Director, Stuart Vevers brings an appreciation for American pop culture and a love of craftsmanship to Coach, paraphrasing one of his biggest hero’s Keith Haring that fashion is for everyone. Reimagining their heritage since 2013 his free-spirited collections have introduced Coach to a new generation.
