An old 1880s mining town turned ghost town attraction offers entertainment, shopping, and dining as well as mining history for visitors of all ages.

Location and views were amazing! There isn't much to explore, but the location and views were amazing. The $8.00 entry fee for adults goes towards the preservation of California's history. In the late 1800s, Calico was a silver mining town with 3,000 residents until the silver prices fell.

Entry Fee:

If you are planning to make it a camping trip, make sure to camp in any of their Calico Ghost Town campgrounds because they waive the admissions fee and you can go in for free. If you are only stopping by, the following admissions fee apply: Daily Admission: Adults: $8.00.

If you take the mine tour, see the haunted shack and take the train, plan on around two-three hours. Do not go in the heat of summer, it gets very hot.

Calico Ghost Town is open daily from 9-5, except Christmas Day.

Calico is an old West mining town that has been around since 1881 and was abandoned in the mid-1890s after silver lost its value. The town that once gave miners a good living lost its hustle and became a “ghost town.”

CABINS and BUNK HOUSE

There are six cabins available for rental at Calico Ghost Town. Each cabin sleeps 4, is heated and air conditioned. Linens are not provided; pets not allowed.

Walter Knott, the creator of Knott's Berry Farm amusem*nt park, bought the ghost town in 1953. The old town was restored and became part of the 480-acre San Bernardino County Regional Park in 1966 and was designated a California Historical Landmark (782).

Some structures still stand dating back to the town's operational years: Lil's Saloon; the town office; the former home of Lucy Lane, which is now the main museum but was originally the town's post office and courthouse; Smitty's Gallery; the general store; and Joe's Saloon.

Such was the case of the town of Calico, California. Within just a few short years, Calico boasted a population of about 1200 people. At its height as many as 3500 citizens called the town home. Unfortunately the town was abandoned just as quickly as it grew.

MISSOULA, Mont.

Starting May 20, admission to Garnet Ghost Town will be $10 for those 16 and older and the cost of renting a cabin in the winter will also increase to $50 per night. The previous $3 day-use fee had been in place since 2005 and maintenance and administrative costs had since far outpaced that revenue.
