How to get vibrant blue hair? ›

Purple AF, Periwinkle, and Girl's Night are great options for this. Turquoise/Green: Shades of green, especially turquoise or teal, can create a vibrant and mermaid-like appearance when combined with blue hair. Aquamarine, Phantom Green, and even Neverland would look beautiful over a blue shade.

The addition of white paint highlights the warm undertones. For a much brighter light blue, combine cobalt blue with a touch of white. Furthermore, if you're out of white, a less common way to lighten a blue shade is to add a little yellow or light green.

So if you look at a color wheel, the opposite of blue is orange. So putting orange dye over blue hair can neutralize it. But the trick is to match the intensity of orange dye to the shade of blue in your hair. So if the dye has faded to a light blue, it's best to use a light or pastel orange over it.

Silver is great if you want to stay in the world of cooler hues. It'll fade your blue to a steely silver tone, as long as you don't have any green appearing. If you do, it'll fade your hair to a turquoise/minty hue.

It will turn green

Just wash your blue hair with purple shampoo every time it starts to turn green. Just don't leave it on for too long and don't use it every day. I've tried probably over 10 different purple shampoo brands and my favorite is the Fanola No Yellow.

You didn't leave the dye in long enough.

Try setting a timer so you can give the dye enough time to penetrate your hair cuticles but not fry your hair. For a permanent color, you're typically going to leave the dye in for 30 to 35 minutes. For bleach, be extra careful!
