More than a month after the public outcry over Balenciaga's BDSM Teddy Bear ad campaign that included photos of children posed around bondage items, Adidas has decided to pause its Stan Smith footwear collaboration, and all future collaborations, with the French fashion house.

Last year, this collaboration faced a setback due to a scandal involving Balenciaga, which temporarily halted their joint ventures. Now, after a nearly year-long pause, the dynamic duo is set to make a grand comeback on November 20, 2023.

“We have taken the time to re-evaluate our partnership with Balenciaga and we have decided to pause all product launches until further notice,” read adidas' order cancelation email.

On Sunday, May 22, the iconic brands debuted their joint efforts at Balenciaga's resort 2023 runway show in New York City, and it was instantly made shoppable via Balenciaga's website. The 33-piece collection seamlessly marries Adidas's signature triple-stripe motif with Balenciaga's voluminous silhouettes.
