A few reasons why I don't follow trends - Style is Attainable to All, Transform your Style (2024)

It can often be easy and tempting to get caught out following the latest fashion trends. This however can prove to be risky and should be avoided if possible. It is far more prudent to focus instead on buying pieces that will last because they are timeless, practical and simply stunning.

Let’s read on to find out why you should never follow trends.

Clothes that are designed well never age

Trends don’t last and are usually short-lived, so it can be very difficult to even keep up with what is the latest fashion statement! They typically come and go, unlike time-honoured classics that are always in style, able to stand the test of time, and blend in with whatever you choose to wear.

Following trends can be very expensive

Continuously having to change your wardrobe every time a trend dies out, will hurt your pocket in the long run! Surely it makes more sense to spend your money on is items you adore and will be happy to wear in years to come because they never look out of place!

Not everything in fashion will suit you

It is worth remembering that things that look great on models, and in fashion magazines won’t necessarily make you look good! The reality is that it is far better, to consider your own body shape and buy clothes that are guaranteed to make you look worth a million dollars, instead of just getting something because someone else has it!

It’s important to be practical

Trendy items may not necessarily be practical. They may initially look good, but be unsuitable for wearing to work, going shopping, or general day to day living.

Its hard to develop your own style and be you

You are unique and an original version of yourself, so everything you wear needs to reflect who you are. It is worth tuning into your likes and tastes when deciding what to buy. Exploring different colours and material to find what suits you personally, should instead be the priority. Just doing what everyone else is doing, fails to express who you are and adequately tell your story! You should be able to light up any room just by walking into it with your own special style.

So to conclude, getting dressed is not a question of being easily persuaded by the latest trends. Rather it should be about being honest with yourself. What are the clothes you do and don’t like? How can you create the best wardrobe for what makes you look good? How do your clothes enable you to celebrate life, and go on your own styling journey? There is nothing wrong with looking around for inspiration and borrowing ideas when you want to update your collection. They should however contribute to enhancing your individuality. Following every new trend, makes it difficult to come into your own, as a distinguished person, with a style that is second to none!

As a seasoned fashion enthusiast with a deep understanding of the industry and a keen eye for timeless style, I can attest to the significance of steering clear from fleeting trends in favor of building a wardrobe that withstands the test of time. My extensive experience in the world of fashion has allowed me to witness the cyclical nature of trends and the enduring appeal of classic pieces.

The notion that well-designed clothing never ages is a fundamental truth in the fashion world. Time-honored classics possess an intrinsic quality that transcends trends, ensuring they remain stylish and relevant regardless of the ever-changing fashion landscape. Having observed countless fashion cycles, I can confidently affirm that investing in these timeless pieces is a strategy that pays off in the long run.

The financial aspect of fashion is another area where my expertise shines. Following trends can be an expensive endeavor, with the constant need to update one's wardrobe as trends come and go. I have seen firsthand how this cycle can strain budgets and lead to a continuous cycle of purchasing, only to discard items when they fall out of fashion. Instead, directing resources towards pieces that resonate personally and have enduring appeal is a more prudent and economical approach.

Understanding the individuality of style is a concept deeply ingrained in my fashion philosophy. It's not merely about following what's showcased on models or in magazines; it's about recognizing one's own body shape, preferences, and unique personality. This realization, based on my extensive knowledge, underlines the importance of practicality in fashion choices and the significance of clothing that not only looks good but also suits one's lifestyle.

The notion of developing a personal style is a topic close to my heart. I've seen individuals struggle with the challenge of finding their own unique expression amidst the noise of ever-changing trends. Emphasizing the importance of self-expression, I advocate for tuning into one's likes and tastes, exploring different colors and materials, and building a wardrobe that reflects the individual.

In conclusion, my expertise underscores the idea that getting dressed is a deeply personal and introspective process. It goes beyond the superficial allure of the latest trends and delves into the realm of self-awareness and authenticity. Fashion should be a celebration of life and an expression of one's unique story. Borrowing ideas for inspiration is encouraged, but it should contribute to enhancing individuality rather than stifling it. Through my extensive knowledge and experience, I champion the idea that true style emerges when one embraces their distinctiveness, making a lasting impression that transcends the ephemeral nature of trends.
